Kids, See How You’re Smart: Use Your Intelligence(s!)
http://www.shapingyouth.org/ blog/ ?p=2071There’s nothing more heart-wrenching to me than a child self-critical of his or her brainpower, tossing off statements about ‘the smart kids” while excluding themselves from this tribe. I see this often in my work at Shaping Youth, and it’s painful to observe, much less ‘counter-market’ because media and classroom ideals often reinforce this type of self-selection.

Hypnotic Dentistry
http://yourhealthstrategies.org/ 2008/ 07/ 29/ hypnotic-dentistry/It’s like doing a Jedi Mind-Trick to numb you before the dental surgeon starts drilling your teeth. I’d like to try it once although I do have some reservations on the effectiveness of hypnosis. Pain during surgery is no joke, especially when you deal directly (or even indirectly) with patients with very low pain threshold.

Return to Rotary
http://hcgrp.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 07/ 25/ return-to-rotary/Horizons has a long and affectionate affiliation with Rotary. We were chosen to be the production company for ‘Service Above Self’, the documentary celebrating their centennial; we have produced a PSA for Rotary One in Chicago, the club that started it all in 1905; and we’re currently working on another short video about Rotary One.
