Weird. That’s the only word to describe the fall TV season, which is the biggest casualty of the 100-day writers strike. TV executives often talk about wanting to shake up the way they do business. And TV critics and viewers often wish networks wouldn’t load each fall season with more new programs than any sane person can absorb.

Each and every one of the following series recently given the green light by ABC has comedy thrown into the mix. A couple I’ve mentioned in the past. Dramedies CASTLE: In this crime-procedural dramedy, Nathan Fillion stars as the title character Nick Castle, a famous mystery novelist who is bored with his own success.

ABC recently announced the network is turning five potential shows into full-fledged series. We Grrl TV lovers are in luck because two of those new pickups star fan favorites Amber Tamblyn, of Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and Joan of Arcadia popularity, and Alyssa Milano, of Charmed and Who’s the Boss? fame.

Do you remember the series One Day At A Time? A single mom raising her two teen daughters in a small apartment. Her relationship with the handy man downstairs? This was classic television. One of the stars of that series is now returning to television in an all new sitcom for TBS television.

Usually when a movie is kept from the press, many start to talk about just how good a movie is. If they don’t let the critics see it before hand, it is probably not all that great. The same can be said for television. The CW has decided to keep their new 90210 under wraps completely until the series premiere on September 2.

Whether it’s the short story format, the comic-book style art, or the fact it’s just Stephen King, you have to love his new web series, called N. In Stephen King’s N., a psychiatrist experiences an obsession of one of his patient’s. N. is the name of the patient, who suffers from insomnia and OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder).

As I posted previously, Married with Children and 8 Simple Rules… fan favorite Katey Sagal has a new TV series coming up on FX. Her latest gig is Sons of Anarchy, a drama with darkly humorous undertones, which might make it worthy of discussion here. I won’t know for sure until I see an episode and get a feel for how funny (or not) the show is.

Fans of the long running comedy The King of Queens might be happy to hear this news. One of the stars Leah Remini is set to start her own talk show on CBS. They are saying it won’t be your regular every day talk show. Just this week the actress appeared on The Rachael Ray show.

Look at all the pretty colors! Tattooed comedienne Margaret Cho has a new series coming up on VH1, a so-called “reality sitcom” named The Cho Show. It premieres on Thursday, August 21, at 11pm EST, preceded at 10pm by Kill Bill star Vivica A. Fox’s fashion competition Glam God with Vivica A. Fox.
