News and Politics
To say that the blogosphere is consumed with news and politics would be an understatement. As the world has become more socially, culturally and economically interconnected - by way of the very technology that allows you to read this tag description - we all have an interest in what's going on, here and everywhere.
Technology has also contributed to the democratization of news sources (both traditional and emergent) as well as rethinking of what is considered newsworthy in the first place. While this has largely contributed to a more informed electorate and greater political engagement, it has also lead to more tears in the social fabric. Even as the challenges that the world faces become more grave, we are less able to view them without our ideological blinders.
