Note: The Mets have Two Platoons
http://www.metsblog.com/ 2008/ 08/ 26/ note-the-mets-have-two-platoons/Prior to today’s game, Jerry Manuel told reporters that he will begin using Ryan Church every day in right field, meaning Daniel Murphy, Fernando Tatis and Nick Evans will split time in left. Tonight, Tatis will start in left field, instead of Evans, against LHP Jaime Moyer, because, according to Manuel, Tatis is better suited to face the ‘crafty,’ veteran.

Luis Castillo up in place of John Maine; Mets have three second basemen?
http://theropolitans.com/ 2008/ 08/ luis-castillo-up-in-place-of-john-maine.htmlWell this makes no sense. With John Maine on the DL, it made it much easier for the Mets to bring Luis Castillo back from his extended stay on the disabled list. This leaves the Mets with Castillo and Argenis Reyes, who can pretty much only play second base, and Damion Easley, who can play first, second and left.

http://metsmerizedonline.com/ 2008/ 08/ our-minor-league-system-is-not.htmlI just finished reading this great interview Steve Serby of the NY Post conducted with Mets prospect Dan Murphy. Here are some of my favorite excerpts from the interview but please be sure to check out the full text and view the video he has too. Q: Your first home run . . . was that like walking on air? A: It was.

Game 130 Open Thread: New York Mets vs. Houston Astros
http://mvn.com/ mlb-mets/ 2008/ 08/ 23/ game-130-open-thread-new-york-mets-vs-ho…Perhaps the biggest reason that the Mets have won ten of their last eleven games is that the starting pitchers have been going deep into games. During that stretch, Mets starters have at the very least recorded an out in the seventh inning nine times. The other two games were those started by tonight’s pitcher, John Maine.

Luis Castillo to return tomorrow
http://theropolitans.com/ 2008/ 08/ luis-castillo-to-return-tomorrow.htmlGroan! Luis Castillo is scheduled to return tomorrow, as the Mets will be back at "full strength" for the first time in a while. I know the Mets are paying this guy $25 million, but I honestly think the team would be a lot better off cutting this guy loose.

http://www.metsblog.com/ 2008/ 08/ 22/ note-stat-leaders-are-25-years-or-younger…The Mets current leaders in wins (Mike Pelfrey), RBI (David Wright), and runs scored (Jose Reyes) are all 25 years old or younger. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, since 1920, no big-league team has made the post-season with three players, all 25 or younger, leading the team in wins, RBI or runs scored.

HOW DID THIS HORSESHOE GET UP HERE?
http://www.kranepoolsociety.com/ 2008/ 08/ 22/ how-did-this-horseshoe-get-up-her…I guess for most of Metsfandom the turning point of last nights game was Carlos Delgado lost in the lights game winning single that scored a head first diving David Wright to give the Mets a come from behind win. But for me the turning point was the top of the 7th inning and the show of cajones by Petey.
