Nintendo

Nintendo, based in Kyoto, Japan, with US offices in Redmond, WA has often been credited for the successful revival of the console video game market. Though the company has been around since 1889, their first console, the Nintendo Entertainment System, was released in 1983. Since then, Sega, Coleco Industries, Sony, Microsoft and others have eroded Nintendo’s market share to the point where they were considered a niche player.

The Wii console and Nintendo DS handheld have outsold competitors, bringing Nintendo back as a frontrunner in these markets.

There is a vibrant community based on the various Nintendo franchises, upcoming releases, game walkthroughs, hardware speculation, and even its history.
