Today, part one of Ian Weinberger's three-part series on this weekend's All Tomorrow's Parties festival in upstate New York. Stay tuned tomorrow and Thursday for more photographs, videos, audio and stories! I want to begin with a few general comments. First, I have been to Kutsher’s once before.

Built to Spill, darlings of the 90s Indie Rock scene, played a sold out show at the Troubador in LA last night. It’s always good to see an old favorite, but the exciting part was that they played their iconic album “Perfect from Now On” in its entirety. Plus a few other fan favorites.

… out of my head. Though I can quite figure out who made it…. Built to Spill last night: fantastic. Openers The Universal and Babydollars should have swapped set times, however. The Universal was scheduled to play at 9, and did so right on the money. Their 45-minute set was really good, though not nearly loud enough.

All Tomorrow’s Parties, which has curated amazing festivals for the past eight years, is finally bringing a lineup to New York–and it’s amazing. It’s curated by My Bloody Valentine (who have just announced a full-blown tour) and ATP and takes place Sept. 19-21.
