Cosmic Justice: It All Evens Out

    http://profitganda.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ cosmic-justice-it-all-evens-out.html

That last post is why I love blogging. I write this thing mainly for myself…it is essentially my diary (hence the lack of coherent focus, style and content – just whatever I’m thinking about at the time) but I keep it online because I thought it might be of interest to both friends and fans of my various other public pursuits (music, theatre, the written word, etc – back when I had such fans).

Fire at my former university (updated)

    http://vanrees.org/ weblog/ archive/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ fire-at-my-former-university

I've been quite distracted today by a fire at my former university (technical university Delft, the Netherlands). I studied there at the civil engineering faculty. My building was next to the architecture department's ("bouwkunde"). This morning that building caught fire.

    I was JOKING, world.

    http://swiv.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ i-was-joking-world.html

So, back in January I applied to the AHRC (who very nicely fund me, and any bad word I ever say about them shall be completely offset by that, etc) for a scholarship to go and spend the autumn researching at the Library of Congress in Washington DC.

    Thesis meeting

    http://stu-stusplace.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ thesis-meeting.html

I had the annual assessment today and it seems to have gone well, apart from the comment that my thesis seems to be lacking a... thesis. Apparently, I haven't been putting it across strongly enough, getting sidetracked in the detail. That's something I'm going to have to correct, and quickly.

    The Vicious Cycle

    http://thislittleowl.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ the-vicious-cycle/

Fortunately (or not), I’ve decided to avoid the vicious cycle while I study for the boards. I am so exhausted by 8pm, that I can’t stay up much later. So I watch TV or read my book and then I go to bed by 10:30pm (for which my friend Gordon would call me a “farmer”).

    A Circular Autopsy of Absorption

    http://blogs.psychologytoday.com/ blog/ east-meets-west/ 200805/ circular-autops…

A Circular Autopsy of Absorption Knut Hamsun: "My soul broods. Mechanically I walk over to a tree, pull my cap low over my eyes and lean with my back against the tree, hands clasped behind my neck. I gaze and think, the flames from my fire dazzle my eyes, but I feel nothing.
