The Future of Physics (basic mechanics)

    http://www.craphammer.ca/ 2008/ 11/ the-future-of-p.html

I was dreaming of a world where kids fought with their parents in order to spend more time learning physics. Only it's not a dream. It's here today and it is called "Little Big Planet" (only for PS3). Little Big Planet is a most amazing experience.

    RMC hosts Traveling Science Fare

Okey okey, I don’t really know whether I should publish a post about this nonsense field trip or not, but I just have to share a couple of words of wisdom regarding the event that kept me away from the computer for the whole day until late evening.

Stephanie did the research, and now has written an article about Why physics teachers should read blogs for The Physics Teacher, and here’s a link to the director’s cut in which she says a few nice things about me, and has several links, and links to links (but AFAICT no links to links about links,

Why physics teachers should read blogs

    http://sciencegeekgirl.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 11/ 21/ why-physics-teachers-should-…

I just had a short article published in The Physics Teacher (in Websights) on useful blogs for physics teachers.  (Woo hoo!)  That article was somewhat truncated from the original, so for any of you who have found my blog through that article, here is the full article as I wrote it.

Demand grows, wages rise for skilled workers in physics-related industry November 21, 2008 | 5:34 am It’s one thing to bemoan the decline of science and math education or scientific illiteracy among adults. It’s quite another to put some sweat into working toward a solution.

The Salty Science of the Saltwater Battery (published in The Physics Teacher)

    http://sciencegeekgirl.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 11/ 20/ the-salty-science-of-the-sal…

Hey hey, I’ve got a twofer in the current issue of the Physics Teacher!  One is my article on the chemistry behind the saltwater battery. The other is an article on blogs that physics teachers can use.  I’ll post the full blog article (the published one was cut quite heavily) a little later!

    The Quality Factor

    http://blogs.scienceforums.net/ swansont/ archives/ 1027

Interesting question over at Incoherently Scattered Ponderings: How do you measure “quality” of education? Part of it is the assumption that you get a better education at certain schools — the feedback loop of good schools having the ability to be selective in both the faculty and the students it accepts.

    On Quantum And Parapsychology

    http://podblack.com/ ?p=1048

Are parapsychologists just jumping on the ‘weird physics’ bandwagon? My first response to this question was actually a recollection of an event last year; Dr Richard Wiseman (who was interviewed earlier in this course) was presenting at a university on the topic of luck.

As this blog previously reported, Dr Surajit Sengupta, director of Battery R&D at North Carolina-based Superlattice Power, Inc. has announced a new cathode material that made a LiPo (Lithium ion Polymer) battery “environmentally non-toxic, safe, less expensive and more powerful.” We learn from Berlin
