This edition, the 13th, will last more than two weeks, opening on May 22 and closing on June 7. The venue is, of course, Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth.

Nevertheless, I’ve been reflecting a bit about competitions in general and this competition in particular. First, considering the long duree (31 years), SIPCA has not “made” a single career.

SIPCA 12 - C19-C20 finals

The evening started well: we secured a free parking place! In the city, these are definitely a matter for the cognoscenti. Tatiana Kolesova played the Saint-Saens, Tomoki Kitamura Beethoven 4 and Ran Dank Prokofiev 3.

I can’t say I have been able to give them my full concentration, and unfortunately, I missed all of Ran Dank’s performance of K466.

They are: Ran Dank , Tomoki Kitamura, Tatiana Kolesova, Takashi Sato , Konstantin Shamray, Eric Zuber which is nothing you couldn’t have found out from the ABC site yourself. That means: Mozart: K466 - Dank, Kolesova, Zuber.

SIPCA 9 - Sydney International Piano Competition of Australia - Auld Lang Syne

The program was: Konstantin Shamray (Recital) Hoang Pham (Chamber Music) Tatiana Kolesova (Recital) Tomoki Kitamura (Chamber Music) This was good because it included 3 players whom I had not heard in the flesh, and one favourite (Kitamura) whom I wanted to see again.
