Ping pong

If your child has his or her mind set on a career in professional sports, and you'd like to be supported in your old age, it may not be the best idea to steer him or her towards becoming a world class ping pong player. There's no shame in it, but the annual salary plus endorsements and prize money and such currently tops out at just north of $100,000 for the best players instead of the magical and coveted $1,000,000 mark.

As of 1988 table tennis is now an Olympic sport. Ping pong, or table tennis, can be played with 2 to 4 players (singles or doubles), and the winner is the one (or team) who first scores 11 points. One of the most fun strokes in ping pong is the smash, and is much like a spike in volleyball. Balls are just creamed onto table tennis tables and the opponent gets embarrassed.
