Thursday Photo Friday #6
http://nobudgettravel.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 09/ 18/ thursday-photo-friday-6/Most tourists tramping through Europe to conquer the must-see sights are likely surprised when they get to Pisa, Italy. With our singular focus on the tower (do you hear me, ladies?), many are caught unaware that it is part of a larger architectural ensemble and is in fact dwarfed by the huge cathedral and baptistry right next to it.

The leaning Tower of Pisa: its competitors lean more!
http://www.blogdolcevita.com/ post/ 870/ the-leaning-tower-of-pisa-its-competito…The leaning tower of Pisa is a little less leaning since 2000 when attempts to straighten it up now mean it’s no longer the most crooked structure in the world. Pisa’s tower now has some serious competition from the Schiefer Turm von Suurhusen church in Germany, which has gone into the Guinness Book of World Records.

Painting for Posterity in Pisa
http://spittingvessel.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 09/ painting-for-posterity-in-pisa.htm…Since 1372, when the bell chamber was finally added at the topmost floor, the city of Pisa had gained worldwide fame for its leaning tower. After almost 700 years, the tower may be relegated to the background.

Dutch Tower Breaks Record, Leans More than Pisa
http://weburbanist.com/ 2008/ 09/ 03/ dutch-leaning-tower-more-than-pisa/The leaning tower of Pisa was famously slanted for centuries before architects righted its stance. But there’s another leaning tower - this one is a Dutch church built in the 12th century. The Tower of Walfridus in Bedum is now Europe’s most crooked spire.

MSNBC Phallacies Mount Up
http://paxalles.blogs.com/ paxalles/ 2008/ 08/ msnbc-phallacie.htmlMSNBC seems to be having a preoccupation with phallic imagery not heard on other networks. First there was Bob Herbert identifying subliminal images of the Berlin Victory Column (he claimed as the Leaning Tower of Pisa) and the Washington Monument - startling phallic images - juxtopositioned with Britney Spears and Paris Hilton.

What to Do in Pisa
http://www.italylogue.com/ things-to-do/ what-to-do-in-pisa.htmlMost of the people who visit Pisa do so for a couple of hours, usually on their way to or from Florence or Siena, only to get a picture of themselves “propping up” the leaning tower of Pisa and maybe climb to the top of the famous tower. But believe it or not, there’s a [...]

Architectural Tourism and the Money Shot.
http://lifewithoutbuildings.net/ 2008/ 07/ architectural-tourism-and-the-money-s…While in Italy last week, we made a quick side trip to Pisa. What was surely once a nice little town has since been descended upon by thousands of tourists (to be expected, of course) and—even worse—hordes of incredibly pushy souvenir vendors hawking everything from leaning mugs to wind-up toy cars (I still don’t understand that one).

Study in Italy and see the Leaning Tower: the University of Pisa
http://www.blogdolcevita.com/ post/ 517/ study-in-italy-and-see-the-leaning-towe…If you wanted to duck out to the leaning tower of Pisa during lunch hour, or live not far from some beautiful Italian coastline, you could consider studying at the University of Pisa. It’s famous for jurisprudence, but is also well-renowned for engineering and medicine.

How to Be Perfect
http://persistentillusion.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 06/ 12/ how-to-be-perfect/How to Be Perfect June 12, 2008 in Happiness, Joy, Life, Love, Purpose, Relationships, Society | 8 comments We tend to see things in black and white terms; right and wrong. Subconsciously we feel that ‘perfect’ is right and that falling short of perfection is ‘wrong’. Imperfection means that we are broken and still in need of work.

Leaning Tower Stops Leaning
http://trompyx.com/ leaning-tower-stops-leaning/Because of a poorly laid foundation, the Leaning Tower of Pisa has been leaning, rather deviating from its intended position since its construction began in the year 1173. The tower if you haven’t seen it, is a work of art. Now engineers have stopped its movement and the tower of Pisa they say, should remain stable for probably 300 years.
