Pittsburgh
Located in southwestern Pennsylvania, the city of Pittsburgh is an industrial town situated along the three rivers — the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio — that converge together to form “the Golden Triangle.” Like pieces of a pie, Pittsburgh is divided into four distinct regions that surround the downtown area: the South Side, North Side, East End, and West End.
Known as the "Steel City", Pittsburgh is comprised of over 90 neighborhoods. A cultural melting pot of sorts, the city of Pittsburgh is famous for ethnic foods, fanatical Steelers fans, and blue collar roots.
Historically an industrial steel town, the decline of the steel industry in the early 1970s forced Pittsburgh to evolve and reinvent itself into a premier provider of education, health care, technology and scientific research. Largest employers include the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center network of hospitals throughout the Pittsburgh region.
Pittsburgh is the home to several major league sports teams including the Pittsburgh Steelers football team, the Pittsburgh Penguins hockey league, the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team, and the Pittsburgh Passion women’s professional football team.
