    The final speaker at Pop!Tech 2007 was Van Jones, an environmental and civil rights campaigner based in California, who talked about his new project Green For All and talked about his push for “green collar jobs” to help lift kids out of urban poverty.

    Sheila Kennedy, an architect and lecturer at MIT spoke about solar technology at Pop!Tech in 2007. Now she’s developed her ideas further. Her firm has been working on soft solar panels which could be used to help harvest sunlight and produce energy off the grid.

    The Portable Light is a self sufficient and sustainable source of power that can be easily folded and transported. Designed by KVA MATx, each portable light unit generates about two watts of electricity and about one hundred lumens of white light, enough to read a book or do domestic tasks by.
