GSD, DIY
http://twowheeledmadwoman.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 09/ gsd-diy.html...And other TLAs of utility and note-- Checking other links on a trackback from utility notebook maker Field Notes, I encountered mention of "paper-based GSD software." Sounded like fancy yupster talk. It's not. Most of us make lists, if only notionally or mentally; many people make Actual Formal Numbered Lists and notes and project logs.

Hiroshima Day
http://twowheeledmadwoman.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 08/ hiroshima-day.htmlAt least one of my uncles lived to a ripe old age 'cos Truman dropped The Bomb. Were the effects horrific? Yes; and so was Dresden. I've been commuting on my scooter, all 150-awesome-cc of it, from the moment the weather warmed up enough and other than the aftermarket rear rack shedding a few parts (gonna hafta buy the Bajaj one), it's been a treat. Sunshine and blue skies, unless I was ridin' before sunup.

Inevitability Calling
http://twowheeledmadwoman.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 07/ inevitability-calling.html...I'm on hold with a plumber's. There's a leaking T fitting in the cold-water line in the basement. Noticed the water yesterday morning but couldn't find the source and since, as we all know, the basement at Roseholme leaks, I assumed we'd had a short, heavy rain in the night. Not so.

http://www.htmlist.com/ how-to/ linux-cli-tutorialpart-1-some-under-utilized-bas…Today, web developers have a number of platform options to develop on. Idiots In The News
http://twowheeledmadwoman.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 07/ idiots-in-news.htmlThe March Of Time! Dateline, editorial pages of our local catbox liner. Item 1. A local physician, incensed -- incensed, I say, or maybe just burning a lot of sandalwood sticks -- about the (Congressionally-averted) scheduled reduction in Medicare payments to doctors as a result of cost goals not having been met, huffs, "...No other business would put up with this!" Oh, never evar, doc.

1989: Horace Franklin Dunkins, Jr., “just hope that he was not conscious”
http://www.executedtoday.com/ 2008/ 07/ 14/ 1989-horace-franklin-dunkins-jr-alab…Minutes after midnight this date in 1989, Alabama’s executioners electrocuted a mentally retarded murderer. Nine minutes later, after rewiring the chair, they finally managed to kill him. Alabama’s fifth execution of the “modern” era initially made the headlines as the nation’s first execution of mentally impaired prisoner after the Supreme Court’s controversial Penry v.
