Rapidshare is one of the premier file-hosting sites on the web, offering free one-click hosting for ease and speed as one of its main features. Registering is not mandatory and few other file-hosting sites offer such generous file size limits (200 Mb).

Paying members get better download and upload speeds, as well as the benefit of using download accelerator programs for better file management. Switzerland-based Rapidshare, as well as other file-hosting services, have been accused of aiding and promoting internet piracy. Rapidshare complies with the DMCA when files are reported to be in copyright violation.

Those piracy concerns aren't without merit, as any search for a particular movie or music title plus the word rapidshare will get you many hits to sites with rapidshare download links in addition to the countless sites devoted to providing a one-stop place for access links to movies, music, games, applications, etc.
