    Mortgage Rates Up From Alameda Sun: Thirty-year fixed-rate mortgage rates averaged 6.09 percent with an average cost of 0.7 point for the week ending Sept. 25, Freddie Mac said. This is up from last week when it averaged 5.78 percent. Last year at this time, the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.42 percent.
