Reverse

One of the most used definitions of reverse is the backwards physical motion. The transmission of most any car has not only forward gears and a neutral gear, but also a reverse gear, that when engaged sets the driver in a course going the opposite direction of forward. Using the word reverse as in a reverse phone find also indicates initiating an action in an opposite manner than one would normally do.


Reverse can also be used to explain a politician. Many of them while politicking and running for office make and pronounce a determination to accomplish a specific goal or claim to be on a certain side of an issue, but for reason of expediency they may reverse their course later on, also known as being on both sides of the issue, or waffling.
