Kavita Heyn Associate Director, Oregon Conservation Programs Hi, river enthusiasts! Let me take this opportunity to introduce myself.  I recently joined American Rivers in July to campaign for Oregon’s Wild and Scenic Rivers, after completing Masters research on watershed management and climate

BOOK REVIEW: Muskie on the Fly

    http://fishingjones.com/ 2008/ 09/ 25/ book-review-muskie-on-the-fly/

Having spent many summers on a river where catching a muskellunge is an achievement that gets noted in the local paper, and having witnessed exactly one person hook one on the fly, I’ve looked forward to reading  Muskie on the Fly, by Robert Tomes, as much as any other fly fishing instructional book.

    http://momoftwounder18.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 09/ photo-hunters-127-9-wild.html

Today's Photo Hunters theme is "wild." Here are some pictures I took last weekend. It is of a wild river. This is the river that runs through the city were I live. It's the Nashua River. Besides running through the city, it also goes through a really nice park where you can walk. The park is called the Mine Falls Park.

Into the Wild: A tasting to remember

    http://thethirstyhopster.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 08/ 19/ into-the-wild-a-tasting-to…

Into the Wild: A tasting to remember I spend the better part of my free time (by some accounts the better part of my waking hours) drinking beer and attending beer events. And yet, just when it seems like nothing will come along to top the last great festival, the last great dinner, or the last great pilgrimage to the brewery of the moment, someone comes along and does just that.

Beer Turns More Green - And Not For St. Patrick’s Day!

    http://www.brewha-ha.com/ beer-turns-more-green-and-not-for-st-patricks-day

One of the frustrating things about Pennsylvania is that it’s nearly impossible to sample a new beer outside of a bar without buying a whole case (stupid beer laws, don’t get me started). One of the things that I love about vacationing in Maine is that you can pop into local stores and buy just one or two beers - a nice option when you’re in the mood to try something new.

Oregon’s Rogue River is a National Wild and Scenic River, designated by our U.S. Government.  It is also a river that has been garnering quite a reputation for killing rafters and kayakers this summer.  Thus far, four people have drowned after trying to navigate some of the rapids towards the Lower

Philippine Bird Festival Takes Flight in Palawan

    http://pinoycentric.com/ 2008/ 08/ 07/ philippine-bird-festival-takes-flight-in-…

There’s no better timing for the fourth Philippine Bird Festival than this September, which marks the start of the annual winter migration of birds from mainland China and Japan to tropical countries such as the Philippines.
