a trio of great reads
http://www.somestrangeideas.com/ 2008/ 10/ 06/ a-trio-of-great-reads/Last week, I wrapped up three books that I had been working through. It has been a rich couple of weeks reading these books, and I wouldn’t be surprised if all three of these make it on my list of favorite reads of 2008.

Destiny or Despair?
http://awakening.typepad.com/ _awakening/ 2008/ 10/ destiny-or-despair.htmlOur destiny, our future, and our joy are in the Eucharist, using whatever blessing we’ve received, whatever resources, talents, skills, and passions God has given us, to make the world a better place. Disconnection from the suffering of the world, isolation from the cry of the oppressed, indifference to the poverty around us will always lead to despair.

Rob Bell Evangelical?
http://christianresearchnetwork.com/ ?p=7021Apprising Ministries points out that evangelical leaders and pastors are busy with their dead on impression of Rip Van Winkle and looking for teachers to scratch their ears with some good bedtime stories. And one of these teaching a counterfeit Christianity, which more and more within the evangelical camp are now openly embracing, is Emerging Church icon Rob Bell.
