Jonathan Bernier: Chomping At The Bit

    http://frozenroyalty.net/ 2008/ 07/ 28/ jonathan-bernier-chomping-at-the-bit/

EL SEGUNDO, CA — Even for those who follow the Los Angeles Kings, it is rather astonishing that they have developed their own number one goalie just once in their more than forty years in the National Hockey League. That netminder was Mario Lessard, who won 35 games for the Kings and was named to play in the NHL All-Star Game in the 1980-81 season.

    Disaster Looms

    http://metstradamus.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 07/ disaster-looms.html

In this atmosphere of former Yankees choke slamming GM's, and current superstars shoving traveling secretaries, my only question after tonight's comedy of errors is this: When is that New York Mets clubhouse brawl coming? Because you know that when the final piece of evidence that this team is a lifeless mess finally comes, it's not going to be something simple like a chokeslam or a shove.

    http://www.greatesthockeylegends.com/ 2008/ 05/ 1987-oilers-back-on-top.html

The year is 1987. It is a great year for hockey, highlighted by Rendez Vous '87, the 1987 Canada Cup, and an enthralling seven game Stanley Cup finals. The Edmonton Oilers mean business this time around, determined to make up for lost opportunities in 1986.

    Gonna Cry Now!

    http://thestartingfive.net/ 2008/ 05/ 21/ the-jokes-on-us/

In 1983, the Rocky statue was no more than a movie prop. In Rocky III, it was presented as a gift from the City of Philadelphia to the “Italian Stallion” Rocky Balboa for winning the Heavyweight Championship from Apollo Creed. The statue was mounted atop the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

Flyers Have Great Goalie History but Only One Cup Winner May 11, 2008 by reganfletcher Pete Peeters came within a game (and a missed offside call) of doing it in 1980. Five years later Pelle Lindbergh won one game in the finals but ultimately lost to the Oilers.

    Bobby Clarke Interviewed

    http://www.nhldigest.com/ bobby-clarke-interviewed/

For those of you who took in the Pittsburgh vs. Philadelphia game on CBC last night, you may have seen an interview of Bobby Clarke during the intermission. I, for one,  found this interview rather fascinating.  Although I was not totally surprised by Clarke’s candor, I was surprised at some of his answers - particularly with regard to the Toronto General Manager’s job.

Bring On The Flyers! A Preview And A Look Back

    http://wwwrealitycheckeyesontheprize.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 04/ bring-on-flyers-pre…

The Canadiens have drawn the sixth seeded Philadelphia Flyers as second round opponants and the series should play out to be an interesting and wild one. In all likelyhood, this is the opponent the Habs would have prefered to meet as they enjoyed more success this season versus the Flyers than they had against the New York Rangers.
