SEM

SEM, or Search Engine Marketing, is often used synonymously with seo. In fact, the term itself was most likely created by the granddaddy of search marketing, Danny Sullivan, back in 2001. He proposed the term because the field was moving beyond "optimization" and into directory listings and other paid placement. Though the terms SEM and SEO are still very much in use, they are often used now to describe things that don't even necessarily involve search engines, such as display advertising, affiliate marketing, and social media.

Whether you are new to SEM or not, a few must read blogs include Search Engine Watch, Search Engine Land, SEO Book, and SEOmoz. For affiliate marketing expertise, a great resource is Shoe Money.

The fact of the matter is, SEM experts understand the value of blogging to get traffic and connect with people. This makes the SEO/SEM blogosphere one of the most vibrant and expansive areas of the net. It also means there is quite a lot of information to wade through.
