Sarah Palin
Sarah Palin was virtually unknown outside of Alaska and the minds of political junkies before John McCain selected her as his running mate for the GOP presidential ticket in 2008. The blogosphere buzzed immediately about Palin, writing up both positive and negative reviews of Senator McCain’s choice, along with posing a series of questions on the matter: How was the neophyte governor of Alaska chosen for such a weighty position? What kind of background does the relatively young (born 1964) mother of five originally from Sandpoint, Idaho, bring to the role of vice president? Will she help the Republicans keep the White House?
As Palin is exposed to a whole new level of scrutiny and commentary from political pundits on blogs and in the media, the voters will ultimately determine if she is truly ready for the glare of the national spotlight and a spot in the White House.
