   Seattle Mariners hire first Asian-American manager

   The Seattle Mariners made history by hiring Major League Baseball’s first Asian-American manager Don Wakamatsu.  A former bench coach for the Oakland Athletics, Wakamatsu also was a bench coach for the Texas Rangers and had a 12 year career in the minor leagues with a small stint with the Chicago White Sox in 1991.

    Rumor: Phillies Interested in Ibanez

    New York Newsday is reporting the Phillies have interest in free agent outfielder Raul Ibanez.  Ibanez is coming off a stong season in Seattle where he hit .293 with 23 home runs and 110 RBI’s. Ibanez would be a cheaper alternative to Pat Burrell, although I can’t see much truth to this rumor.
