Sexuality

Sexuality is a fluid term that applies to animals and humans. Animal sexual behavior is straightforward; mammalian sex drives tend to the seasonal displays that are focused on the continuation of the species. Human sexual behavior is complex, underlined by social change, religious beliefs, socio-economic background and ethnic background. Sexuality came to the fore when Sigmund Freud redefined sexual desire and opened discussion on the subconscious mind and its workings.

Once Freud's work was published, interest in sexuality increased and research was undertaken by sex researchers in the United States such as Alfred Kinsey and Masters & Johnson. Both research teams aimed to present sexuality as a healthy human trait.

With the rise of the internet and its integration in our daily lives, a new sexual revolution has unfolded. As never seen before, the internet has expanded the sexual forum as to include online erotica, blogs, sex blogs, magazines and erotic art; sex by the people for the people, working toward reducing socio-cultural taboo.
