Small business

Tag details

Small business is widely considered the “growth engine” of the world economy. In the U.S., small firms employ about half of all workers and generate the majority of new jobs. While the twentieth century was dominated by big corporations and multinational conglomerates, the twenty first century is increasingly the age of small business.

Small businesses, startups, the self-employed, and work from home opportunities such as blogging have all been fueled by the rise of the Internet. Digital communications, inexpensive yet powerful software, and the increasingly interactive capabilities of the worldwide web allow small businesses to compete with the big boys of the corporate world better than ever.

Today traditional bricks and mortar stores increasingly offer shopping online, while any innovative entrepreneur can use a website or blog to reach the whole planet with the news of her new product, and market that product inexpensively online, too.
