TMZ

tmz (TMZ) stands for Thirty Mile Zone, ideally from the center of Hollywood, California outward. In the 1960s any type of entertainment production done outside of that limit was considered to be out of town, also known as "on location."

In current terms, it is an online tabloid calling itself a site for entertainment news that is also a television show of the same name. These joint efforts between Telepictures Production and America Online, more often then not, choose to show notables at their very worst. Under the Blogsmith umbrella, the website contrives to be a high-profile blog.  In reality, it is shaped around photographs and video clips collected by paparazzi. While the site proclaims to get their materials for free, it usually mirrors programming seen on the tv show. TMZ does admit to buying the rights to the photos, videos and interviews that they air.

Categories the news stories fall under include "Breaking News", "Celebrity Justice", "Gossip/Rumors", "Train Wrecks" and "Wacky & Weird."
