My Next Socks May 16th, 2008 My next socks will be Gigi Silva’s “Fawkes” pattern in this gorgeous Cherry Tree Hill yarn. I’m going to cast on for those and her “Bellatrix” in Tempted Sock Yarn’s Hocus Pocus colorway by the end of the month for Ravelry’s Sock Knitters Anonymous Sockdown, May 2008.

This is my read through of James Chapter 1. Certain scriptures that stood out to me are quoted below, and at times I state my understanding of them. "Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance."The trials that we face is how our faith is being tested.

Love welcoming the new day. Open to the divine appointments along the way. Be fully present. # Be bold. No more hiding in plain sight # checkbooks make cowards of us all. # You will be tempted to use strong words. Don’t. # Never be a coward to the money. # Great marketing helps bad prouducts fail faster.

Earlier this week I was in a monthly meeting with my colleagues. Our Director opened the meeting with a profound devotional centering around James Chapter 1. I have read this passage several times throughout my life but the points that were brought out in this devotional were very timely and pertinent for me.

Recently, I studied the Book of Hebrews with a group of women in my church.  Sometimes, when you lead a study you forget to reflect and think personally about how God’s Word is changing you. This morning as I reflected on the 13 chapters of Hebrews, I realized God has taught me to look at my circumstances, my culture, and my future through Christ colored lens.
