If you have not seen There Will Be Blood yet, then go out and do it. It is easily one of my favorite films of all time now. The fact that someone saw the opportunity to contrast Daniel Plainview and Darth Vader, is absolutely brilliant.

Just to be clear here… that’s Paul Thomas Anderson of Boogie Nights, Magnolia, and There Will Be Blood. Not Paul W.S. Anderson of Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, and Alien vs Predator. A subtle distinction I know… but an important one.

LATEST UPDATE: I just received an email from Kotaku editor, Brian Ashcraft, who originally spoke with Konami’s Aki Saito in person and here’s what he said: “Hey Hunter, [Saito] said Paul Thomas Anderson, not just Paul Anderson, but specifically ‘Thomas.’ Hope that helps!” I just asked Brian again if Saito possibly meant to say director Paul W.S.

Not really, of course. Joseph Losey’s pseudonymously-directed 1956 mystery was released as THE INTIMATE STRANGER (great title, and apt!) in the UK, and FINGER OF GUILT (sappy, generic title) in the US. So I’ve simply combined the two titles into one SUPER-TITLE. Richard Basehart plays the titular finger.

Jenna Bush's wedding was really no biggie. Pretty laid back Texas-style hoedown. First thing that had to happen was Jenna had to agree to give up women, at least in public. Not a big problem, her mother had before her and so she knew that as a wealthy Texan, that smackdown was coming and she got it out of her system.

My wife and I haven’t had a lazy movie Sunday in God knows how long. But this past Sunday’s circumstances — rainy outside, Jennifer feeling ill — made for the perfect Movie Day opportunity. Seeing that neither of us had seen any of the Academy Award-nominated “best pictures,” we rented three of them Sunday (and I added Walk Hard for my own amusement).

Pick. Up. The. Fucking. Pace. I understand it’s a difficult time nowadays if you are true creative filmmaker, surrounded by uninspired sequels, remakes and live-action versions of television shows from the 60’s. I understand that from a picture to picture basis, the quality of a movie has been compromised in exchange for movies guaranteed to bring in box office shattering revenue.
