    Turkey Vultures

    http://shadesofmj.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 07/ turkey-vultures.html

Outside my bedroom window I see fluid, lithe bodies flying over the freshly cut field. They're scouring for unsuspecting mice or snakes. Clad in my Faded Glory t-shirt, blue jean shorts and navy blue houseshoes I grab my camera and zoom in. I wonder what it's like to be that hungry as I snap pictures of the turkey vultures gliding in and out of my frame.

IDOT: Less roadkill to be picked up along highways

    http://skinnymoose.com/ tailsandtrails/ 2008/ 06/ 05/ idot-less-roadkill-to-be-p…

I do not think this would be such a good thing to do for the state. Why I say that is because it would not look good to the tax payers for that state and to the tourists that go through that state to see rotting roadkills laying along the highway.

    http://carlettasroundthebend.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ v-is-for-vultures.html

These are common Turkey Vultures or many in North America refer to them as Turkey Buzzards or simply buzzards. They feast almost exclusively on the carcass of dead animals - ugh!Beautiful in flight, up close - not so much!!!These were flying above some penned in chickens at a neighboring home.

Whomped by Wednesday, Paranoid by Saturday

    http://booklady.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 03/ 29/ whomped-by-wednesday/

For the past week our neighborhood watch program has included a cluster of eight to ten turkey vultures in mid-migration. They hunch in the topmost branches of nearby cottonwood trees, surveying the streets and, I assume, tallying all the cats and small dogs in the area.
