Melissa Schrettner STAFF WRITER For a San Franciscan duo that prides itself on their threadbare guitar-and-drums sound, Two Gallants packs quite a punch. Together since 2002 but friends since childhood, drummer Tyson Vogel and singer-guitarist Adam Stephens weave gritty, long-winded narratives with folk-blues guitar, often finding themselves compared to the likes of Cat Stevens and Bob Dylan.

Playlist: Bumbershoot Day 3I'm finally getting around to a Bumbershoot recap, and part of my delay is because unlike my adventurous first day, I don't have any stories to tell this time. That's the way it often goes, great adventure/no pictures or lots of pictures/no stories to tell.

Day 2 of my San Francisco adventure started out with a massive headache. A literal one, in this case. But after a trip to the Farmer’s Market and a fabulous cup of Blue Bottle coffee as well as the best damn Buffalo Burger I’ve ever had (possibly the only one I’ve ever had), I was ready to live again.

I’ve seen the Liars multiple times so seeing them again didn’t overly excite me; I ordered a delicious vegan salad with ginger lemonade and sat in the back. Their polished sound drew quite a crowd, their long opening intro spaced me the fuck out – or maybe it was the opiates I took, anyway

It’s finally here. Though the months of anticipation, Outside Lands-related posts and Radiohead worship have been fun here at the Stranger Dance, it’ll be nice to get this bitch done with, so we can have some fun. After a long weekend at the Coachella Festival a few years back, I got on my knees and prayed to the RICH that they would create a festival with an equally amazing line up but in a climate conducive to large crowds and excessive partying.
