Ultratech (UTEK) shares are sharply higher today after Merrill Lynch analyst Brett Hodess upped his rating on the semiconductor equipment maker to Buy from Neutral, setting an $18 price target. Hodess writes that he has increased confidence in the company’s ability to grow above industry trends, with strong orders and backlog amid a sharp industry downturn.
