The Story So Far…

http://www.stormhoek.co.za/ the-story-so-far/
The Stormhoek vineyards can be found in a hidden valley halfway up the Bains Kloof Pass in Wellington, Western Cape, South Africa. Three hundred years ago, five hectares of vineyard were planted on the lowest slopes, down near the river. Today’s oldest remaining block was planted in 1 metre wide rows in these same soils by Dawid Joubert in 1910. ...

    Beautiful Viognier

    http://www.wannabewino.com/ 2008/ 10/ beautiful-viognier.html

I picked the 2007 Nelson Family Vineyards Viognier for the wine of the evening. It had a real cork closure, cost me $16.80 in a club shipment, and Matt tossed the bottle before I could write down the alcohol content. I have to say, this was one of the best Viogniers I have ever had and a terrific value at that.

Jepson Vineyards Mendocino California Alc. 14.5% from the California Wine Club approx. $10 Red Rhone blend The Little Wooden guy appreciates a good QPR as much as the next guy. Is this great? No. Is it far better than most $10 bottles? Abso-friggin-lutely. Night One At first this was disappointing.

Wedding Crashing: A Scenic Vineyard Fete

    http://www.thisyounghouse.com/ 2008/ 10/ wedding-crashing-a-scenic-vineyard-fete…

We’ve mentioned my best friend Cat (whom we set up with John’s close friend/cousin Travis) a few times before. Well, they finally tied the knot and my best friend is now officially my cousin. We could not have been happier to witness their amazing late September nuptials at Breaux Vineyards in gorgeous Leesburg, Virginia.

    Geneva Vineyards

    http://www.cycling-challenge.com/ geneva-vineyards-2/

It was riding through the vineyards and quiet countryside west of Geneva that first got me passionate about cycling a few years back (long before it ever occurred to me to cycle up an Alp). And when the leaves are turning and the skies are clear (like today), these rides are just perfect.

El Dorado Mourvedre — A Very Special Wine

    http://www.honest-food.net/ blog1/ 2008/ 10/ 03/ el-dorado-mourvedre-a-very-spec…

Last weekend Holly and I ventured up to the El Dorado County town of Georgetown to collect a batch of Mourvedre from Sumu Kaw Vineyards; it was nearly a year to the day we’d gone to the same town to gather Sangiovese grapes. Sumu Kaw. Odd name, this, but it apparently means something like “Place of the Sugar Pine” in the local Indian language.

Sipping on Virginia Wine - Linden Vineyards 2004 Claret

    http://anythingwine.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 10/ 03/ sipping-on-virginia-wine-linden…

Linden without a doubt, in my mind, one of the top producers of wine in the state. Their wines are consistently good across the board and their prices really match with the quality of the wine you are getting.  Today I am writing about their 2004 Claret, a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Petit

VH R-10 gHouse on Martha’s Vineyard

    http://freshome.com/ 2008/ 10/ 03/ vh-r-10-ghouse-on-martha%e2%80%99s-vineyard/

Located in Massachusetts, in Dukes County, Martha’s Vineyard is an island off the US east coast famous for its harsh winters and “tough” local restrictions when it comes to building new home. At least that’s what architect Darren Petrucci had to deal with when he came up with the VH R-10 gHouse design.
