    http://belowthebeltway.com/ 2008/ 11/ 09/ the-lessons-of-the-2008-election-in-vi…

Three things happened on Tuesday in Virginia. First, Mark Warner sailed to election as Virginia’s new Senator after a campaign against Jim Gilmore that was never really a contest. Second, Barack Obama became the first Democratic candidate for President since Lyndon Johnson to win Virginia’s Electoral Votes.

Whew! What a long strange trip it’s been. This will be the last article I write on this blog. I would like to use this final post to summarize my thoughts and feelings about what has occurred over the past year. The blog up will stay up for a few days to allow comments and touch base with so many of you that I have grown accustomed to interacting with.

    http://www.carolinapoliticsonline.com/ 2008/ 11/ 05/ election-night-recap/

So Election 2008 is now over and your friendly admin of CPO can slack off for a little while now.  We saw some big changes last night around the country and also right here in the Carolinas. North Carolina has turned blue.  By a fraction of a hair it went to Obama last night.  He earned it.  His campaign had the ground game to make it happen.

There’s no denying it this morning, yesterday was a very good day for Democrat’s in Virginia. First, Mark Warner won Virginia’s open Senate seat in a cakewalk: Democrat Mark R. Warner cruised to a decisive victory in the U.S. Senate race against Republican James S.

    Races To Watch Tuesday Night

    http://www.carolinapoliticsonline.com/ 2008/ 11/ 02/ races-to-watch-tuesday-nigh…

It’s not just the next President we’re electing on Tuesday; we’ve got all kinds of races going on in both states from the U.S. Senate down to your local school board.  I have put together a list of state and Federal races that should be carefully followed Tuesday night as I imagine they will be close.

Virginia Senate: Warner 61% Gilmore 31%

    http://belowthebeltway.com/ 2008/ 10/ 27/ virginia-senate-warner-61-gilmore-31/

The latest Washington Post poll of the Virginia Senate race confirms something we’ve known for awhile now: Republican James S. Gilmore III has gained no ground in his U.S. Senate campaign against Democrat Mark R. Warner, according to a new Washington Post poll, despite Gilmore’s attempts in recent weeks to hammer Warner for his support of the financial rescue plan.

Virginia Senate: Warner 61% Gilmore 36%

At this point, the Virginia Senate Race is all over except for the vote-counting: The only real question in the Virginia Senate race seems to be whether Democratic candidate Mark Warner will have coattails enough to help swing the state into Barack Obama’s column on Election Day.
