    3 tb Catsup 3 tb Brown sugar 2 tb Vinegar 1 ts Salt 1 ts Lemon juice 1 ts Dry mustard 2 tb Worcestershire sauce 1 ts Chili powder 4 tb Water 1 ts Paprika 2 tb Cooking oil 1/2 ts Red pepper Combine all ingredients in a quart jar; shake well and refrigerate until ready to use as a basting sauce for barbecue chicken, beef or pork.

This evening at the Messiah Lutheran Church parking lot, hamburger or hot dog meals were sold for $4 each to benefit the family of Caide Timmons, a little guy (2.5 years old) who had surgery for brain tumors and is undergoing radiation treatments.

    Can’t buy food like this in Emporia! Yesterday when I was in Lawrence, I stopped at The Merc to bring home some supper. Well, I wanted the spinach triangles, but they were awfully expensive for 4 tiny pieces, so I also got the roasted vegetable and goat cheese tamales with tomatillo salsa.
