    Berkano overlay news

    http://ben.liveforge.org/ 2008/ 05/ 14/ berkano-overlay-news

Recent changes in berkano overlay: I cleaned out some cruft, packages that in my opinion weren’t useful anymore I removed the older versions of hitchhiker-sources, because the kernel devs recommend using only the latest, for security reasons I added a live git ebuild for Arora, the new Qt4 WebKit

    HTML5 video with reflection

    http://ariya.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 05/ html5-video-with-reflection.html

Poor Tor Arne. After his super-secret project is leaked, our HTML5 Media ninja has no other choice but to reveal all his cards. HTML5 video/audio, important for next-gen web content, will be available in Firefox, Opera, and Safari, is finally supported in QtWebKit, thanks to Tor Arne.

    Top Secret, Hush Hush!

    http://labs.trolltech.com/ blogs/ 2008/ 05/ 13/ top-secret-hush-hush/

So, after Simon snitched on me and leaked highly sensitive information about my top-secret project, I guess it’s finally time to spill the beans. Yes, it is true. For the past few months I have been semi-secretly working on taking over the world implementing support for the HTML5 video and audio elements in the Qt port of WebKit, using Phonon as the media backend.

WebKit announces a new mailing list for reporting security vulnerabilities. Deb Richardson elucidates the new Firefox site identification button. Besides the practical merit of this feature, it is a fascinating study in communicating potentially confusing information to end users.

    Around the Browsersphere #10

    http://browsersphere.com/ 2008/ 05/ 11/ around-the-browsersphere-10/

There are some rumblings in the browsersphere as of late with a Firefox 3 RC1 release right around the corner, news that the latest service pack for XP isn’t compatible with a pre-installed IE8 Beta 1, etc.  So let’s get caught up.

    http://www.penkapp.com/ 2008/ 05/ webkit-buttons-and-banners.html

The rendering engine behind Apple's Safari web browser is called WebKit. If you're the adventurous type or like contributing to open-source software projects by submitting bugs, feel free to download the latest nightly build of WebKit. It makes Safari wicked fast.

    QtWebKit Development Update

    http://labs.trolltech.com/ blogs/ 2008/ 05/ 09/ qtwebkit-development-update-5/

As part of Qt 4.4 we have now made our very first release! Shortly before the release we finished merging all our changes back to the Subversion trunk branch, where we are working directly now. We will continue to maintain and bugfix the code in the Qt 4.4.x release series, but we try to make the changes in trunk first and then backport changes as they fit.

More Thoughts on HTML5, CSS3 & WebKit Advances!

    http://jefflynchdev.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 05/ 09/ more-thoughts-on-html5-css3-web…

I thought I’d take this opportunity to explain a little bit more about why I believe the new “features” in WebKit are so important to the future of web development and design. First off, let me set the record straight and tell you that I am an unqualified supporter of Microsoft technologies such as SQL Server, BizTalk Server, Commerce Server and the .NET Framework.

If you’re a web designer, web developer or just someone that keeps up with the latest “Web 2.0″ technologies, you know that a lot of progress is being made by ALL the major browsers to become “standards compliant”.
