Ambiguous message when exploring network

Some network computers and devices might not be visible. Click to change..." Why wouldn't I be able to see other computers and devices if I'm not allowing incoming connections for file sharing? Core networking is active which enables ICMP.

Vista won't allow any wifi

Two home networks, one at work and three public. On each occasion I have been able to detect and where appropriate, provide security keys, but although it says it's connected it will not go on the internet or do any network activity.

Windows HPC Server 2008 Beta 2

It’s a good thing too since the Redmond team is looking at the first sunny and hot Northwest weekend this year. Mother nature usually gives us these days on weekdays. It’s been a hard push since November when we shipped our last beta.
