  CW, I dont use Avast so Im not familiar with it. What I would suggest, if youre using the free version, is uninstalling it and installing Microsoft Security Essentials. Great program that doesnt interfere with Windows Update.

  everyday I log in and nothing happens (the welcome screen just keeps displaying) so I end up having to log in via safe mode and doing a system restore back to a date that works (29 Nov) prior to various windows updates - has anyone else had this problem? HELP!!
