From Rubber Room to Polling Booth
http://agentlemansdomain.typepad.com/ a_gentlemans_domain/ 2008/ 09/ ill-let-you…I’ll let you all into a little secret – the US Presidential Election will take place in a couple of months. Some of you may have already guessed, but for the rest of you, let me tell you that it will be, as it always is, on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November (this strange

Thursday Thirteen #64
http://agentlemansdomain.typepad.com/ a_gentlemans_domain/ 2008/ 09/ tt-64.htmlMaybe some of you have heard of Cockney rhyming slang. It is a seemingly rather convoluted, yet really very simple, way of saying certain words by using other words. Its origins have not been definitely established, though the balance of opinion seems to be that it was a code invented by the

Bog Standard Humour
http://agentlemansdomain.typepad.com/ a_gentlemans_domain/ 2008/ 08/ funny-but-w…Have a look at this. It's in the spirit of Candid Camera, which I used to watch many years ago in England (the British version) though hidden camera shows seem to be made for TV companies the world over. Look how many there are in YouTube. This one made me laugh out loud.

Thursday Thirteen #63
http://agentlemansdomain.typepad.com/ a_gentlemans_domain/ 2008/ 08/ tt-63.htmlIt seems ages since I did a book list for my TT, so here’s one now. I had a look round my books to see how many had titles that were actual sentences – subject and predicate. There were quite a few, so I expect I’ll be able to use this idea again. Lots of them were autobiographies, for some reason.

Thursday Thirteen #62
http://agentlemansdomain.typepad.com/ a_gentlemans_domain/ 2008/ 08/ tt-62.htmlOver the years, my wife and I have watched a lot of court TV. I suppose after celebrity chefs it was only logical that we should have celebrity judges. On any given weekday, in our catchment area, there are about 6 or 7 judge shows on TV. We watch only two of them: Judge Judy and The People’s Court.

Saturday 9
http://agentlemansdomain.typepad.com/ a_gentlemans_domain/ 2008/ 08/ the-lazy-da…The Lazy Days of Summer I was looking round some of the blogs where I often loiter, and when I was at One Gal’s Musings I saw that she had taken part in a meme that is new to me. The Saturday 9, which was invented, it seems, by Crazy Sam at Saturday 9. Now, I know this is Sunday, but I thought I’d have a go anyway.

Thursday Thirteen #61
http://agentlemansdomain.typepad.com/ a_gentlemans_domain/ 2008/ 07/ tt-61.htmlLast week the lovely Di, at whose shrine I have been happy to worship these many months, did a TT on various firsts in her life. Well, not being one to let a good idea go by unstolen, I’m doing the same this week. Here are thirteen firsts, not in chronological order.

Thursday Thirteen #60
http://agentlemansdomain.typepad.com/ a_gentlemans_domain/ 2008/ 07/ for-my-very…For my very first Thursday Thirteen, over a year ago, I offered a list of things that I will ban when I rule the world. I am still waiting to be offered the position of Lord High Emperor of the Universe, but while I prepare for office I have been planning. I’ve got a little list.

Not Well Met.
http://agentlemansdomain.typepad.com/ a_gentlemans_domain/ 2008/ 07/ not-well-me…I posted a Thursday Thirteen a week or two ago about office-speak. Several people were kind enough to comment and no one came to the defence of pretentious management twaddle. There's a surprise! I've had this in a dusty folder deep in the bowels of my computer for a year or two.
