I don’t know how the McCain camp got my phone number, let alone my mailing address, but nevertheless I received my first “robo-call” from John McCain last night: “Hi, this is John McCain, and I’m calling independent-minded voters like yourself who are frustrated with all the partisanship and backroom deals in Washington.

It costs 59 cents to mail an absentee ballot into the City of Boston election department. There is no documentation in the absentee ballot mailing package or on the City Election Department website about postage cost. A call to the election department was inconclusive.

I went by Chele’s blog and read her post where she said that she did not watch the DNC or Mrs. Obama’s speech. I had to cheer. I didn’t watch it either. Heck, I already know who I’m voting for. I do.

My Mom’s American, but I grew up abroad. Overseas voting is easy, but there’s one grey area. And this is it: children of US citizens who have never lived in the US. A number of states — 17 at last count — clearly allow such children to vote using the last address of their American parent(s).
