Account in its general meaning refers to a systematic way of recording transactions. However, when people talk about accounts, they usually mean bank accounts.

A bank account can be used for many different purposes. Without one, you may have difficulty cashing a check without paying large fees, and it is not possible to have money directly deposited either. Recent changes in some laws have affected the features offered by traditional banks.

Online banking offers many benefits that a traditional bank account can not. When you choose an online institution, the fees and costs charged are usually much less, because online institutions have a lower overhead. An online bank also offers convenience, because you can take care of all your banking needs without ever leaving your home or office.

An online account places all of your account information just a click away, and can save both time and money. Security is important though, because you do not want your financial information in the wrong hands.
