ADHD is the acronym for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, recognized as a disorder/disability by the CDC. ADHD affects children as well as adults with differing levels of severity. Severe cases can greatly impair the ability to focus on specific tasks and can cause problems with impulse control. Medication is often prescribed to treat ADHD in order to lessen the symptoms but is not a cure for ADHD.

Aside from the treatment of ADHD with medications there have been advances in the field of biofeedback which has gained popularity as a natural treatment to help train the brainwaves to respond differently to stimuli. Another natural method to help treat ADHD includes adhering to a healthy diet rich in Omega 3’s for DHA and reducing sugar.

Sticking to a consistent and regular exercise program can also be used to immediately elevate dopamine and norepinephrine. Elevating these neurotransmitters in the brain acts in a similar way to medications like Adderall and Ritalin. You can learn more about ADHD and the latest treatments at Exercise
