advertising

Advertising is a form of communication that attempts to persuade potential customers to purchase a particular brand of product or service.

The blogosphere is a very popular medium for advertisers because of strong demographic data showing a more educated, influential, and affluent audience, scoring much higher than the general internet population. Many advertisers also find tremendous value in the rich contextual content that reaches deep into the long tail of the blogosphere.

While a traditional advertising expert may focus largely on television, radio, cinema, magazines, newspapers, and billboards, modern forms of advertising, commonly found in social media, focus on creating more genuine and authentic experiences for consumers to participate or interact with a particular brand of product or service. Additionally, there are many bloggers that author a niche-specific advertising blog, while other bloggers may display advertising on their blogs as a means of generating revenue.
