Al Gore was the 45th Vice President of the United States, serving two terms under the administration of President Bill Clinton from 1992 - 2000. Al Gore was also the Democratic party's nominee for President in 2000, a controversial election he eventually lost to George W. Bush.
Since that time, Al Gore has gained notoriety as an environmental activist through such endeavors as Live Earth as well as the documentary book and film An Inconvenient Truth. The movie won two Academy Awards (for best documentary and best song) in 2007. That same year, he was bestowed the Nobel Peace Prize, sharing the honor with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
Al Gore currently serves as a senior adviser to Google and is a member of the Board of Directors at Apple Computer. He is also chairman and co-founder of Current TV, a cable network focusing on young people and viewer produced content, as well as Generation Investment Management, whose efforts are in the arena of sustainable investments.
