When did Phantom Planet turn into Razorlight? Since celebrity drummer Jason “Hollywood” Schwartzman jumped ship to start his own Coconut Records, Phantom Planet V2 extracted the “California” sound out of their past life, and now they’re hitting their stride with a bit of Brit rock strut.

Big things are about to happen for Longwave. The Brooklyn band supported the Strokes on North American and European tours and frontman Steve Schiltz has recently been helping out Albert Hammond Jr. with guitar duties.

Ah Submercer. We missed you buddy. In the door, past Simonez, down the elevator, down the hall, make a left, through the door, in the door on the right, down the hall, and through the door. Got it? Good. Walk inside and there you have it. Submercer. It's still small, it's still smoky, and it's still fun.

So how's 2008 treating you? For me it's been quite a quiet start. Except for Saturday night. Or should that be early Sunday morning? I forget. All I remember is the thumping bass, pounding drums and squelchy noises eminating from the floor as our neighbours did their best to deprive us of sleep.

I especially love end of the year top 10 lists. So I just wanted to throw out my 10 favorite records of 2007. The criteria is pretty simple, it had to of had a street date in 2007 (US release). It was tough, there were plenty of records that released in 2006 and didn't get "uncovered" until 2007, but sorry, those will just have to be edited in to last years list.
