The ADA's stance on low-carb diets and other treatments sparked controversies of intense debate. Diabetes is a disease that affects every aspect of someone's lifestyle and many have strong views on the ideal diets and treatment regimes for the best health outcomes. As a large organization, the ADA has traditionally been conservative as it adopts it's recommendations to new evidence.
