amnesty international
Amnesty International is a global human rights organization that started in London in 1961. In May 2011, Amnesty International celebrated its 50th anniversary and continues its work for those who have been imprisoned solely for exercising their basic human rights.
Amnesty USA is currently working on a few select causes, such as maternal mortality, the death penalty, and torture. The organization is also well known for its letter writing campaigns, where members and supporters write letters on behalf of prisoners to international governments. Amnesty also has various online petitions and events to help promote the cause of human rights.
Amnesty USA does have its own blog, Human Rights Now, which covers human rights news and events. Amnesty UK does a good job of cataloging blogs and posts relevant to international human rights.

Last week, Greek teachers found out that their services were essential.
