Brideshead Re-re–re-revisited…
http://laurelsnyder.com/ ?p=142Okay, so in order to write this post I have to confess something– I have an obsession with Brideshead. I know a lot of you will be saying, “Oh, me too… nothing to be ashamed of..” But no. I have an OBSESSION. I have read the novel about 20 times. I own the entire miniseries (on VHS, a legacy from my grandfather, who taped it from TV).

Whole Foods Takes on Jammy Dodger Culture
http://francesrivetti.typepad.com/ blogs/ 2008/ 05/ whole-foods-tak.htmlPoured over a lovely, big pile of British daily newspapers which arrived fresh on the coffee table late last night upon return of gallivanting husband from long-distance, extended weekend family festivities at his brother Michael's UK wedding.

Hungry Like The Wolf
http://francesrivetti.typepad.com/ blogs/ 2008/ 05/ hungry-like-the.htmlBritish readers and Anglophile friends of a certain age are certain to have teen memories of the UK's most commercially successful 'New Romantic' band of the 80s - Duran Duran. Ground Floor
http://madeoftrash.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 04/ ground-floor.htmlSo I'm watching TV and I see a commercial for a new Apatow-related comedy with Mila Kunis, some white guy protagonist who looks vaguely familiar and...Russell Brand? Yeah, that was jarring. I became intimately familiar with Brand during my 6 months in the UK - I think it's a legal requirement.

Happy Birthday Big Ben
http://francesrivetti.typepad.com/ blogs/ 2008/ 04/ happy-birthday.htmlHere in historic riverfront Petaluma, the Victorian era was just the beginning of anything more industrious than indigenous tribal activity of local native Americans. And as we're celebrating this little city's 150th anniversary this year, there's been a lot of interest in the life and times of those early days in Gold-Rush California and beyond.
