application

Twenty years ago, an application was something you filled out and turned in if you wanted to work at a certain place of business. My, how things have changed in the last couple of decades!

Applications have taken on a whole new meaning in the last 20 years. Today, when you hear the word "application," what is generally being referred to is computer software.

Anything that benefits the end user is considered an application. For example, with the new iPhone, you can buy apps for $3-$5 that do anything and everything. One application allows you to use your phone to scan a bar code on an item in a store and the app will search the internet to try and find that item for a cheaper price online. Another app helps you count calories throughout the day so you can keep your calorie intake at a minimum while you are out and about and on the go.

So whether you are turning your mp3 files into .wmv files or just trying to organize your finances, applications can help make life easier and save you time and money.
