Aprilia is a motorcycle manufacturer, based in the town of Noale in Italy. The company was founded by Ivano Beggio, after he took over his father's bicycle factory in the late 1960s. Their first products were the humble, 50 cc Colibrì and Daniela mopeds. Since then, the company has developed rapidly, and now holds the distinction of being Italy's only full-range manufacturer of 50 cc to 1000 cc two-wheelers.

Aprilia has been very active in motorsports as well. Starting with its first 1974 motocross racers, Aprilia motorcycles have become a common sight on racing tracks of all types around the world. The company's efforts culminated in 1985 with their entry into Grand Prix racing.

Over the years, it has provided motorcycles to many famous racers, like Max Biaggi, Loris Capirossi, and even Valentino Rossi. Today, Aprilia is part of the Piaggio Group. The company frequently updates its model lineup. Those models range from the practical Sportcity and Scarabeo scooter lines, to a number of off-road bikes, to variants of its Tuono, Mana, Shiver, and RSV4 road bike lines. The Aprili a RSV4, is the company's current flagship model.
