Raphael’s “School of Athens” Stephen Macasil Francis Schaeffer on Raphael's School of Athens: "The Renaissance is normally dated at the fourteenth, fifteenth, and early sixteenth centuries, but to understand it we must look at events which led up to this, especially its philosophical antecedents during the Middle Ages.

    Aristotle and Diogenes Laertius

    http://annyballardini.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 08/ aristotle-and-diogenes-laertius.ht…

I spent some time today reading from The History of Animals by Aristotle and The Lives and Opinions of Eminent Philosophers by Diogenes Laertius Translated by C.D. Yonge (very grateful to the internet randomness that brought me here) _______________

Are you smarter than Aristotle? Part I.

    http://blogs.psychologytoday.com/ blog/ beautiful-minds/ 200808/ are-you-smarter…

Intelligence is on the rise. No, not quite right. <dabs whiteout on post> IQ test performance is on the rise. Darnit! <uses up the last drop of whiteout> Let's try this again. Abstract reasoning of funky looking patterns is on the rise. There we go. Moving on.

Vulcans and Wizards: Transcending Naturalism in Literature

    http://thinkinginamarrowbone.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 08/ 13/ vulcans-and-wizards-tr…

Today, I would like to consider two different genres of fiction: fantasy and science fiction. The way in which I talk about them will probably be different than the way a literary expert would talk about them; I make no claims to any serious research in this post, but rather I would just like to share some personal thoughts I have had when comparing the two genres.

    Think Again, Mr. Aristotle

    http://ssgreylord.blogspot.com/ 2008/ 08/ think-again-mr-aristotle.html

" Man is a goal seeking animal. His life only has meaning if he is reaching out and striving for his goals."-Aristotle  I realized this morning that I don't have any goals.  Hmm, according to Mr. Aristotle this does not bode well.  Who doesn't have goals in their life? Am I a bum? Am I aimless? Am I wishy-washy? While I was thinking I pressed my eyes closed so hard I was seeing stars.

    Modernism: Good Points

    http://civitatedei.wordpress.com/ 2008/ 08/ 06/ modernism-good-points/

Before I criticize modernism, I should mention the parts that are good. Modernism corrected an imbalance in medieval education, uncovered the problems of church and state, and the problems of individuals in a collective. It is quite likely that if modernism did not arise, these problems and imbalances would have remained hidden.

    Do I Resemble Your Wife?

Okay, first things first.1 One true answer to the title’s question is: not entirely. Phew. Dodged one there, didn’t you? Not so fast, though. The answer may well be “Somewhat,” in which case it behooves you to read on to see how. Alright, I’ll admit it. It’ll behoove me if you read on.
